Do we have to love God to share the gospel?

Can we share just because we love people?

Anyone can talk about loving God but not love Him

Anyone can share the gospel but not believe in it or live it out.

 

If we truly love God (as Christians)

·       His love flows through us

·       Dear friends, let us love one another, for love comesfrom God. Everyone who loves has been born of God and knows God. - 1 John 4:7,

·       Dear friends, since God so loved us, we also ought tolove one another. - 1 John 4:11 11),

·       We can express love

·       But the fruit of the Spirit is love,joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness. - Galatians 5:22

 

·       Christ’s love will compel (drives) us to bring peopleto God

·       For Christ's love compels us, because we are convincedthat one died for all, and therefore all died. - 2 Corinthians 5:14

 

What has sharing the gospel/Proclaiming His name got to do with lovingHim?

‘because of the grace God gave me to be a minister of Christ Jesus tothe Gentiles with the priestly duty of proclaiming the gospel of God - Romans15:15-16

If you love someone, you become interested in his/her business(affairs),activities and goals.

Interest in God’s business

God’s business

·       Everyone to hear the gospel

·       He said to them, "Go into all the world and preachthe good news to all creation. - Mark 16:15

·       Everyone to repent

·       The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as someunderstand slowness. He is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, buteveryone to come to repentance. - 2 Peter 3:9

·       Jesus was always and only concerned with God’sbusiness

 

·       God loved the world that He sent Jesus to save it.

·       For God so loved the world that he gave his one andonly Son - John 3:16a

·       Jesus did what God wanted

·       My food," said Jesus, "is to do the will ofhim who sent me and to finish his work. - John 4:34

·       For I have come down from heaven not to do my will butto do the will of him who sent me. - John 6:38

 

·       And obeyed even till death

·       And being found in appearance as a man,he humbledhimself and became obedient to death—even death on a cross! - Philippians2:8

·       Are we also interested in God’s business/plans/goals?

Desire for God to be glorified

Glorify the LORD with me;let us exalt his name together.

 - Psalm 34:3

Why glorify God?

·       Because He is our Creator and Maker of all things

·       For from him and through him and to him are allthings.To him be the glory forever! Amen. - Romans 11:36

·       You are worthy, our Lord and God,to receive glory andhonor and power,for you created all things, and by your will they were createdand have their being. - Revelation 4:11

·       The heavens declare the glory of God; the skiesproclaim the work of his hands. - Psalm 19:1

·       Jesus desired to glorify God

 

·       It was his purpose and motivation.

·       I have brought you glory on earth by completingthe work you gave me to do. - John 17:4

·       So that people will too glorify God

·       For I tell you that Christ has become a servant of theJews on behalf of God's truth, to confirm the promises made to the patriarchsso that the Gentiles may glorify God for his mercy. - Romans 15:8-9

·       What about us?

·       The way we live cause people to glorify God, eventhose who have yet to believe in Him.

·       Live such good lives among the pagans that, thoughthey accuse you of doing wrong, they may see your good deeds and glorify Godon the day he visits us. - 1 Peter 2:12

·       In the same way, let your light shine before men, thatthey may see your good deeds and praise your Father in heaven. - Matthew5:16

 

Reminder

·       Jesus commands us share the gospel to everyone

·       Therefore go and make disciples of all nations,baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.- Matthew 28:19

·       And to be witnesses

·       But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comeson you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends ofthe earth. - Acts 1:8

 

·       Paul tells us that we are Christ’s ambassadors

·       We are therefore Christ's ambassadors, asthough God were making his appeal through us. We implore you on Christ'sbehalf: Be reconciled to God. - 2 Corinthians 5:20

·       Peter reminds us to

·       Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone whoasks you to give the reason for the hope that you have - 1 Peter 3:15

·       If we love God, and want to be involved in Hisinterests and glorify Him, will we not also proclaim His name to everyone?
